Reported crimes across Lancashire in 2021

Finding positive statistical data is a difficult challenge however, thanks to some great work at StrongGuard Security UK HQ, we are beginning this Lancashire “Lighthouse” newsletter, with some really interesing findings.

In the reported figures for Violence and Sexual Offences across Lancashire Jan 21 to Dec 2021, there were a total of 28,199 incidents reported. From Jan 22 to Dec 22 this number has risen by quite considerably to 34,033 – Thats an increase of 21%!

Unfortunately its not good reading across for the region of Lancashire as a whole. Out of all the categories we have analysed, 10 out of the 12 highlight an increase in reported crimes across Lancashire between 2021 and 2022. The only 2 categories that saw a decrease were Drugs related crimes with a 6% reduction and reports of Anti-Social Behaviour which came down by 31%!

Violence and sexual offences was up by 21% across LancashireStats compared between 2021 & 2022

In terms of % increase in reported crimes, Shoplifting increased by a worrying 48% – Not good reading if you are a retailer in Lancashire. Theft was also up at a concerning 37% percent!

This increase puts Shoplifting at the top of the list if we look at the percentage increase for reported crimes from 2021 to 2022.

Reports of Shoplifting across Lancashire increased by 48% over the last 12 months. Not good news if you are a retailer!

Interestingly 10 out of the 12 categories saw an increase of reported crimes ranging from 13% to 48% over the last 12 months. Its becoming clear that after just 3 editions of Lighthouse it would appear that reported crimes are on the up in the UK. It’s certainly the case in Merseyside, Cheshire and Lancashire looking at our analysis to date!

Thank you for taking the time to read this edition of “Lighthouse”
