So far we have published 6 editions of our Lighthouse Crime Stats. Locations we have focused on to date are Norfolk, Lancashire, Cheshire , Merseyside, North Yorkshire and Derbyshire. Some interesting patterns and trends are beginning to emerge. Violence and Sexual Offences have been at the top of all the locations for the highest number reported crimes. Anti-Social Behaviour, Criminal Damage and Arson, as well as Public Order Offences are the categories that are appearing frequently in the top 3 positions.

In this 7th edition of Lighthouse our StrongGuard Security UK Crime Analysis Team will take a closer look at the latest report for the Kent region over a 2 year period and see how this region compares to others.

Our team have researched and analysed the data to see what patterns and trends emerge for crimes reported between February 2021 and January 2023 to see how they compare to those reported for the same period the following year up to January 2023.

We have collated and presented this information to communicate the Kent crime trends and patterns to provide guidance and support for local communities in their battle against crime.

Our dedicated StrongGuard Security UK Crime Analysis Team, research, analyse, compile, and present the UK crime data across all the regions that matter to you.

Crime Categories

Once again our Crime Stats Research and Analysis team are pleased to share with you that reported crimes of an Anti-Social nature have dropped significantly. This category dropped by 40% for the Kent region; once again a really positive change for the category of Anti-Social Behaviour.

In addtion to this, only 6 out of the 12 reported crime categories showing a negative direction in reporting of crime. It makes for good reading when we can start our Lighthouse crime reports on positives like this.

That means 6 categories out of the 12 showed no increase in the reporting of crime. These categories were Shoplifting, Theft, Vehicle crime, Robbery, Drugs, Burglary

Reports of Anti-Social Behaviour decreased by 40% in Kent.

Like in many of the other regions we have reported on, Shoplifting and Theft showed the highest increase of any reported crimes in the region. Shoplifting increased by 22% whilst Theft increased by 19%. The other 4 categories increased as follows:  Vehicle Crime up 13%, Robbery up 11%, Drugs up 5%, Burglary up5%.

If you are running a business in Kent where you are at risk of Shoplifting and Theft, then these increases are a concern for sure.

Reports of Shoplifting (up 22%) and Robbery (up 19%) on the increase across Kent.

Having now published 7 editions of our Lighthouse Crime Stats reports, there are patterns and trends emerging that appear in all regions across the UK. We reported in the last edition of lighthouse that the category with the highest number of crimes reported in both 2021 and 2022 was Violence and Sexual Offences. This has proven once again in Kent to be the category with the highest number of reported crimes.

The big positive for this region though is the fact that only half of the 12 categories showed any increases. It will be interesting to see whether other locations will see the same positives as Kent or if they will continue with the same pattern seen elsewhere in the UK.

Thank you for taking the time to read this edition of “Lighthouse”
